Big week

It was a big week for Gavin and I. I turned 31 on Saturday. It's soooo weird. For the first time in, like, forever, I wasn't very excited about my birthday. Before this year, I celebrated for a whole birthday week! When I was in my early 20's, I gave myself a whole friggin' month! I just loved birthdays!! But this year was different. I guess my priorities are shifting...

Speaking of that, Gavin turned four months old on Saturday! He's getting so big! He is now pushing up onto his elbows, reaching for and grabbing things, smiling, cooing and laughing! He is developing quite a personality! He's attempting to roll over, sit up and stand. He also tried rice cereal this week. I think he liked it, although, I don't think he really knew what to do with it.

It's 2000 and what?

I officially feel old...technology has left me behind. Oh sure, I have a Facebook account, but I don't really know how to use it. I don't know how to "poke" people (do I even want to...what does that mean???) or find all these crazy quizzes or send someone a round of drinks. But I have to admit. I do love the keeping in touch with people this way. It's a great window into someone's life, and you don't have to spend an hour on the phone! I hate talking on the phone. I also have an Ipod, a heart rate monitor, a camcorder, camera, Iphone, computer and this stupid blog. Do I know how to use any of these things? Not really (although I did find a fun game on my Iphone...Sally's Spa). I would love to post a cool background and some fun pics here, but I DON'T KNOW HOW! Maybe even figure out how to post a video or two. Maybe I'm just lazy...or maybe I'm too busy. But, mostly I'm just lazy. So, if anyone has any words of wisdom to offer an old geezer on managing this blog...I'll turn my hearing aide up!

Jack's birthday

Jack turned 1 on May 5, 2009. I made him an apple peanut butter cake and bought him a couple of presents. One present he destroyed in a matter of 5 minutes!! We sang happy birthday to him and all had a piece of cake. It wasn't too bad! Gary and I had cream cheese icing on our pieces. No icing for Jack!

That mom...

I know that having a baby changes your life...I have to schedule EVERYTHING around his eat/wake/sleep cycle. I don't want to be that mom, or that person, who gives up life as it was because we had a baby. Not that life was that exciting before the baby came. We got married, searched for a house for 3 months, bought a house, spent 2 1/2 years remodeling said house, starting dealing with Gary's back pain, got pregnant, had a baby and Gary had back surgery. Having Gavin inspires me. He makes me want to live life to the fullest. Not that I didn't want to before he came, he just gives me that little extra kick in the butt to actually do things instead of just talk about them. I want to go on vacation and go on little outings around town. I want to go on dates with my husband and rediscover him. I want to be around family and friends. I want to meet and connect with new friends. And, I can't wait to watch my little man grow. I'm excited about life and what it has to offer!
